Support
Get Confy, connect with someone you meet, and find help when you need it.
Talk to Qriton
- Setup and questions: hello@qriton.com — subject “Confy support”.
- Abuse or safety concerns: hello@qriton.com — subject “Confy abuse report”.
- Privacy and deletion requests: hello@qriton.com — subject “Confy privacy”.
Include your platform, app version and a short description of the problem. We answer in English or Romanian. Never send private keys or passwords.
Meet at an event. Keep chatting.
Confy helps you continue a conversation after a conference, workshop or meetup. Share a QR code or contact link, send a request, and chat after the other person accepts. Chat does not require an account, phone number or email address. Messages between accepted contacts are end-to-end encrypted.
Get the private test
Open qriton.com/confy-test, enter the invitation code you received, and register your email and platform. That email is used for testing access and service messages; it is not your Confy chat identity.
- iPhone: install Apple's TestFlight app. After the Confy test is approved and your invitation is issued, use Apple's email invitation to install Confy. Your signup confirmation and the TestFlight invitation are separate emails.
- Android: after registering, use the APK download on the testing page. Your phone may ask you to allow installation from that browser. Use the download provided on the invite-protected page. The current test requires Android 8.0 or later.
Confy for iPhone requires iOS 18.2 or later. Public App Store and Google Play listings are not available yet. An invite code gives access to registration; it does not bypass Apple's review process.
Common questions
How do I add someone?
In Confy, show your QR code for the other person to scan, or use Share Link and send them your contact link. With an updated Confy build installed, the link opens Add Contact with your code filled in. They review it and tap Send Request; you choose whether to accept.
You can also copy the full contact link and paste it into Add Contact. Share it only with people you want to hear from: anyone holding it can request to connect. Rotate your code in Settings if you need to replace it.
For extra verification, compare the safety number in the contact details with the number on the other person's phone.
The link opens a website instead of Confy
Install or update Confy first, then tap the original contact link again. A browser or your phone's link preferences can keep it on the website. In that case, copy the complete address, including everything after #, and paste it into Confy's Add Contact screen.
Installing the app does not automatically transfer a contact link you opened earlier. Return to the original link after installation. The contact page runs no scripts, and browsers do not send the fragment after # to our server.
I registered, but there is no TestFlight invitation
Check the email address you entered and your spam folder. The first email confirms your signup. Apple's separate TestFlight invitation is issued when an approved external test build is available. While Apple is reviewing the build, your signup remains queued.
For help, email us from the address you registered. Include “Confy TestFlight” in the subject. Do not send your invitation code or Apple password.
Can iPhone and Android users chat together?
Yes. Updated test builds support contact requests and private one-to-one messaging through the same relay. Both people need an internet connection for this path. Keep the current Android test open to receive messages: its background push notifications are not configured.
Nearby phone-to-phone connections and the Nearby Room are currently iPhone features.
How do the nearby features work?
Nearby contact chat needs Confy open on both iPhones, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth enabled, and the local-network permissions allowed. When either app is closed or the phone is locked, use the internet relay for messaging.
The optional Nearby Room is a shared local room. Everyone within range who joins can read its messages. It is not an invite-only room for your event. Do not post private information there.
I don't get notifications
On iPhone, allow Confy notifications in the phone's settings and in Confy, then open the app with internet access. Notifications say only “New message”; open Confy to read the conversation. While Confy is open, messages appear in the app instead of a notification banner.
The current Android test APK receives messages while the app is open. Changing battery settings will not enable push notifications in this build.
How do I block or report someone?
Use the block/report actions in the contact or request details. In the iPhone Nearby Room, long-press a message to find its sender's Block and Report actions. Reporting also blocks the sender for you.
A report includes your reason and, for the room, relevant signed room messages. Private contact-chat text is not automatically attached. During private testing, also email hello@qriton.com about urgent or unresolved concerns. Include only the information needed to investigate; see the report privacy details.
If someone is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services. Confy support is not an emergency service.
How do I delete my data or leave the test?
Use Settings → Delete all data with an internet connection. It removes your local chat keys, contacts and history and requests closure of relay mailboxes and deletion of notification registrations. If server requests cannot complete, the normal expiry periods still apply.
Do this before removing the app; uninstalling alone should not be relied on to clear every item in secure storage. Other people can retain their own copies of your conversations.
To remove your separate testing registration, leave the TestFlight group, or withdraw an earlier launch-interest signup, email hello@qriton.com from the registered address.
Can we create a private event group?
Yes. The groups update adds invite-only groups for up to 16 people, including the owner and pending invitations. On iPhone, choose New Group under Private groups. On Android, open Private groups, then New Group. Invite connected contacts; each person chooses whether to join.
Joining shares your Confy code and connects you with the other members. Messages travel through separate encrypted connections between members, so members can exchange messages while the owner is offline. The owner confirms joins and manages invitations and removals when their app connects. You can leave; leaving as the owner closes the group for everyone. Contacts are kept when you leave.
Everyone needs iPhone build 7 or later, or Android build 3 or later. iPhone availability depends on Apple’s TestFlight approval. The current Android test needs to stay open to receive messages. Group messages expire locally after 7 days; the group and its contacts do not expire with them.
Keep group invitations inside Confy. A shared contact link adds an individual contact; it is not a public group-join link. The public iPhone Nearby Room remains a separate feature.
Will an update keep my contacts and groups?
Yes: update the existing app in place. Use Update in TestFlight on iPhone, or install the new test APK over the existing Confy app on Android. Do not uninstall or clear app data first. If Android asks you to uninstall before updating, stop and contact support.
The groups update preserves existing v2 identities, contact connections and saved history. It also keeps any older prototype contact records that are still on the phone, listed under Earlier contacts; those old connections need a current QR code or contact link to reconnect. Data already erased by an earlier build cannot be recovered by this update.
If saved data cannot be opened, Confy stops and keeps the files instead of resetting your contacts. Restart the phone and try again, then contact hello@qriton.com if the problem continues.
Can you recover my chats on a new phone?
No. Confy has no account recovery or cloud backup for your chat keys and history. On a new phone, add your contacts again and compare the new safety numbers. The app keeps local message history for 7 days, so keep anything you need elsewhere.
Can Qriton read my messages?
The relay cannot decrypt conversations between contacts. It handles encrypted messages and delivery information. A recipient can read and copy messages you send them, and room messages are visible to everyone who joined. Reports and support messages are handled as explained in the Privacy Policy.
Legal and authority requests
Send requests to hello@qriton.com, identifying the requesting authority, legal basis, relevant dates and the specific information sought. We assess requests under applicable law. We cannot provide the decryption keys for users' private conversations.
Other records can include pending encrypted messages, notification registrations, abuse reports, website security logs, testing registrations and correspondence. The retention table describes these records and their current handling.
